Horses: April 2026 - The End of the Draft Horse Adventure

I will have to start out with an apology for not posting this on Saturday! You will see though in this post why I did not! I was lucky to have time to breath!

Over the past months, since we got the 12 draft horses, we have worked like crazy! We have had our ups and downs! We have been excited and discouraged! But the Lord has blessed in immeasurable ways and we have learned more than we ever could have imagined! If I had the option to do this all over again, I would probably make a few wiser decisions in some areas, but I would not hesitate to take on this project once more! We wrapped up the last of the adventure this past weekend at the Josh White Draft Horse Auction! We were able to complete all eight of the fillies' training before the deadline, and so we took them to the auction, and what an experience it was! We were so blessed to see the fruit of our labours paying off in the good behavior of the fillies! They were all so wonderful and there were lots of sobs and tears watching them load into trailers to go to their new homes!

Elizabeth with the horse she picked from the group, her name is Capitola!

The horse I picked, her name is Figgy!

The first horse I worked with, her name is Bossy!

Lots of work sessions were put into each horse in order to get the halters on and get them to leading, loading in the trailer, picking up their feet and learning to trust us!

The horses Hannah picked from the group, their names are Pixie and Pegusus!

First bath sessions with the horses! We all got very muddy!

In order to prepare the horses for the auction we had to be able to show off the blue roan coats that were hidden under all of their winter coats, so began the very long process of shaving the eight horses we were taking. It was a very itchy affair!

Morning prep for the horses! It took a little while but we got them all cleaned up, with pretty ribbons in their hair! They did absolutely beautifully out in the arena! No misbehavior or bad tempers!

The farewell pictures! After four months of working with them, it was bittersweet saying goodbye!

Writing: April 2026 - Bible Copy Work Book 1

 Good day, everyone!

Well, this is my first writing update! It will be about Bible Copy Work Book 1, which is the first book I ever published!

I published this book last spring, and I can say that seeing one's work in print is a very thrilling experience. I am so thankful that the Lord allowed me to go through this process and become a published Author.

The process of getting this book published was not as hard or time-consuming as I had originally thought it would be. The Novel I am working on publishing right now is much more of a gruelling process! I decided to self-publish the Bible Copy Work series, as it is more of a unique idea and would be very hard to get a publisher to take on traditionally. I used Dove Christian Publishers, or Inscript Publishers (Which is their Self-publishing division) to publish my Copy Work Books.

Dove Christian Publishers were very efficient in the publishing process, and every mistake or change that I desired was made in a wonderful and caring fashion.

The longest part of preparing this book for publication was the Bible Verses and Artwork. I am not the most efficient person when it comes to math, and as I am planning on publishing five of these Copy Work Books, I had to chart out how many lessons would need to be in each book and how many verses from Proverbs and Psalms would need to be assigned to each lesson! As the age group grew with each book, I also needed to make the later lessons larger, which meant a very confusing process with organizing the verses! But, by God's grace I got it done and completed the artwork as well!

Some of the pictures from the book!

From start to finish, this book took about two months to complete and another three to publish. I really did enjoy the process, as I had no income expectations and just went forward knowing that I was doing something that had been on my mind for a while.
I had always wanted to do something of this sort, as I hoped that, if the Lord willed, I would be able to use the Bible Copy Work idea for my own little ones someday! (This has not happened yet) The more I thought about it though, the more I realized I should be willing to share this with others as well! For every child should have the word of God engraved in their heart!

The book is available for sale on Amazon, Barnes & Noble,
Or at this link to Dove Christian Publishers!

How the Blog Will Look

I have been going back and forth trying to figure out how I would like this Blog to look. After much consideration, (on something that probably should have been very easy to figure out), I have fallen on an idea!

My life has been a little wild and excitingly blessed the last few months, this is no excusse for not getting this organized before now, but I will attempt to be more prompt in the future.

I believe that I will make it a point to post once a week, every Saturday!

I have a schedule I will do my best to follow for each week of the month, that way, I always make sure to cover all the different elements of my life I want to share.

I started this blog mostly to advertise my writing, but then the Lord started growing my life in other ways, and so, while I will still have a great deal about my books being posted, I have made room for the telling of the other exciting things!

So here is the schedule!

Week #1: Life Update - Sharing about the exciting new blessings that have happened in my life! This post today will replace the Life Update for this month, but I will be posting this next month about all the things that are going on with me!

Week #2: Writing Update - I have a great deal I have been working on with my writing, new projects, old ones and ones that are almost finished!

Week #3: Horse Update - I am still working with all the horses, this month's post will be a big one, lots of exciting happenings!

Week #4: Edmund and Miss Pheobe - I will be starting a story that I will publish on this Blog, a new chapter will be released every month. It will focus on the adventures of a New York Cabbie driver (Edmund) and his Cabbie horse (Miss Pheobe), set in the 1870's, it will be a collection of short stories from their lives!

Week #5 - Book Reviews - This one will be irregular, as there is not always five Saturdays in a month, but on the occasions that there are, I am excited to share my thoughts on some of my favorite books!

Well, there it is, the plan for this Blog, I am really praying that it goes well, and I am excited to embark on this journey!

12 Draft Horses

Alright, so this might be crazy and this post is not quite about books, but it is about my other passion, horses! And I wanted to share!
Me and one of my sisters have started an absolutely crazy whirlwind of an adventure. We bought 12 blue roan draft fillies! We are going to halter break and sell nine of them! I am so excited about this project and I am so thankful that the Lord blessed us with this opportunity! The filly I will be keeping will join the two red roan mares I already own and they will pull together in what is called a unicorn pull!

The Begining

Life is beautiful, and we all have a duty set before us, designed by God, for the exact things He has made us to do. The tricky part is, waiting for God to show you what that duty is, and not missing it when He has set it right before you.

Life has always been an up and down ride, full of directions and leadings for me. God is so very good though, and patient to a point I am to small to understand.
Two things have always been very clear though, I was made to write, and to glorifying God with my writing.

I began the journey of writing when I was little, I can't remember a time I have not loved thinking up stories. I am not the typical storyteller though, I am not a gifted speaker and therefore my stories have only ever, and will forever, be told by my pen, not my lips.

Even though I have thought up stories sense I was little, I have only just begun to try to share them with the world. This was not a procrastination on my part, but a time management struggle. To say my family lives a busy life would be an understatement. I have a host of siblings, nieces, and nephews. We lived on a farm and now we custom farm. I am the oldest child at home and I have a list as long as my arm of daily chores to be done. Life is full and beautiful!

This year, 2025, has been incredible! I have self published three of my Bible Copy Work Books ( which I will share more about in later posts) I have submitted a novel for traditional publication and I have self published a children's Christmas book (Christmas is one of my favorite holidays and I will share more about that book later as well!) yes, God is very good!

Besides this journey of publishing books I have begun another journey that aligns with the old fashioned feel of who God made me to be, I believe in returning to the old paths (the old paths so clearly designed by God to remind us of his beauty) because of this belief I have always been drawn to a simpler way of living. I have purchased two Belgian draft horses and I hope to share my journey of rediscovering the old paths of farming and livelihood, with you, as well as my journey of writing.
I cannot wait to see what God will do next!
God bless,
Emily A.
